General Information about Address Book:
What is Address Book?
Our internet-based Address Book software allows you to add and maintain address book entries in your own private Address Book account. The following is an example of the many fields in the address record: Name, street address, company name, title, five different phone number fields, email address, website url, chat id, birthday field, and more. There is also a feature where you can create little mini notes in your Address Book.
What are the terms of usage?
The system does Not come with any guarantees. The system is used on an as available, as is basis, with no warrenty or guarantee of any kind. And by using this system, you agree to these terms. Also, as stated in our basic terms of service, your email address is never sold or shared with any outside parties; it is only used to communicate with you regarding your account, and of course, to give you the ability to signin to your account.
How do I Sign-up for an Address Book Account ?
Step 1::
Click on the "Sign-up for new account." link. Enter your firstname and lastname, in the fields provided.
Enter your email-address in the field provided. Note: Please use an email address that you own; do NOT use someone elses email address. You must also give us a valid email address, or you will not be able to complete the sign-up process, and the system will not work correctly. Now enter your desired password in the two fields provided. Note: password must be at least 5 characters long. Now click on the Sign - Up button.
If successful, the system will now respond with a "thank you" message that your userid has been added to the system.
Step 2::
Now go to your email box and open the "Address Book: Welcome" email from us.
Look at the line that says: "Here is your account ACTIVATION code:xxxxxx". Where "xxxxxx" is your activation code. Using your mouse, highlight and copy the activation code. (Note: if you wish, you may just write it down on a piece of paper, but be careful, the activation code is case sensitive and may contain capital letters).
Now go back to the Address Book homepage (or just click on the link that is being displayed on the "thank you" screen.) Go down to the form that says: Activate New Userid:. In the field marked "Activation Code:", paste (or type) the activation code that you just got from the welcome email. Now enter your email address in the field marked: "Your email address:". Click on the " [Activate ]" button.
If successful, the system will respond with the following message: Thank you, (Name). Your userid has been successfully activated. Please return to the Address Book Homepage and Login to your new account.
** Important: Steps 1 and 2 are one-time events only.
Step 3::
Go to the Address Book homepage. Go down to the "Existing Users Login:" form. Enter your email address and your password (not the activation code). Click on the [ Login ] button.
Tutorial
Step 1 : Sign-up for your Address Book account. (See above section, How do I sign-up?)
Step 2 : Create your Profile record. (Optional)
After you signin to your Address Book account, click on the Profile button.
Fill out the form and click on the Submit button. Note: The creation of your Profile record is generally a one-time event; however, you may change/edit your Profile record at any time.
Step 3: Create your Address Book records.
To create Address Book records, simply click on the Address Book link. Then click on the Add New Address button. Note: The creation of your Address Book records is generally a one-time event; however, you may ADD more entries to your Address Book at any time. You may also EDIT or DELETE existing records at any time.
All fields are optional except the first and last name fields.
Edit and Delete of existing address book records:
A summary of all address book records can be viewed by clicking on the Address Book button. A record can be changed by clicking on the Edit button, that appears to the immediate right of the record. A record can be deleted, by clicking on the Delete button, that appears to the immediate right of the record.
Viewing record detail:
The full record detail of any record can be viewed by clicking on the Detail button, that appears to the immediate right of the record. The detail will appear in a separte/new window. Simply close the window when you are finished viewing the information.
Viewing Address Book summary information:
You can view the summary information for ALL your address book records, by clicking on the Address Book button. If you click on one of the single letter buttons, the system will show only the address book records that have a lastname that begins with that letter.
Option Button Summary:
The following option buttons appear at the top and bottom of the Address Book screens:
Home: This button returns to the Address Book login or home page.
My Website: Goes to your website, if you have the url defined in your profile record.
Help: Invokes the help screen.
Profile: Brings up a form that allows you to add or edit your profile record.
Address Book: This button will display all your address records that are currently in your file.
Notes: Allows you to display or add mini "Note" records to your Address Book.
User-Admin: With this button, you can change your Address Book password, or delete your Address Book account. Warning: when you delete your Address Book account, all of your records are deleted, and cannot be recovered!
